Your Role

As the Embedded Software Engineering Manager, you will be at the forefront of leading and guiding teams dedicated to embedded software design and testing. This position requires a blend of leadership and hands-on involvement. Key responsibilities include:
  • Mentoring and guiding embedded software design and testing teams, including managing an offshore testing team, to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Strategizing and executing embedded software design, development, and testing initiatives, while managing priorities and resource allocation.
  • Overseeing the creation of embedded software for electronic systems, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and standards.
  • Supervising the development and implementation of embedded software testing plans, with a focus on automation and effective defect management.
  • Collaborating with various departments, suppliers, and partners to meet organizational objectives.
  • Providing technical guidance and professional growth opportunities for team members.
  • Designing and developing innovative solutions, conducting engineering analyses, and addressing field-related challenges.
  • Establishing standards and expectations for embedded software design and testing methodologies.
  • Creating and executing a comprehensive embedded software testing strategy aligned with industry best practices.
  • Implementing robust defect tracking and management processes to ensure prompt issue resolution.
  • Balancing managerial responsibilities with individual contributions.
Qualifications

To thrive and advance your career with The Toro Company, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (required).
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or Business Management (preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in embedded software development with hands-on product design and testing (required).
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience (preferred).
  • 6+ years of experience in embedded software development with hands-on product design and testing (required).
  • 2 years of supervisory experience (preferred).
  • Strong grasp of hardware-software integration (required).
  • Experience with intricate electrical, mechanical, and software design for embedded systems (required).
  • Proficient in developing product specifications and system engineering (required).
  • Expertise in various testing methodologies: functional, regression, performance, usability, and security (required).
  • Experience with continuous improvement processes in testing automation (required).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer focus and the ability to anticipate needs.
  • Capability to mentor team members and facilitate their development.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Results-oriented, proactive, and possessing a high level of integrity.
