Position Title: Cashier/Sales Associate

Job Category: Sales Associates/Cashiers

Job Overview:

The Cashier/Sales Associate plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service. Reporting directly to the Team Leader Coach and Assistant Team Leader, this position is responsible for engaging with customers at the register and throughout the sales area.

Key Responsibilities:

Cashier Responsibilities:

  1. Greet customers warmly and assist them in locating or selecting products to ensure a delightful shopping experience.
  2. Efficiently operate the point-of-sale system to process transactions accurately.
  3. Maintain cleanliness of the front area, including doors and counters, and ensure the store is tidy.
  4. Support promotional activities by providing customer information and assisting with signage.
  5. Keep the cash wrap and surrounding areas organized and stocked.
  6. Assist in training new cashiers to uphold service standards.
  7. Ensure dressing rooms are clean and organized.
  8. Restock merchandise on the sales floor and rotate items as necessary.
  9. Adhere to all company policies and safety practices, reporting any hazards to management.

Sales Responsibilities:

  1. Welcome customers in a friendly manner and assist with product inquiries to promote sales.
  2. Follow Goodwill's guiding principles in all interactions.
  3. Achieve production goals by ensuring accurate counts and maintaining an organized sales floor.
  4. Display merchandise correctly and rotate stock to enhance visibility.
  5. Keep the sales area and inventory well-presented to maximize customer engagement.
  6. Maintain dressing rooms in a clean state and remove any unnecessary items.
  7. Report theft incidents to management promptly.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to lift items weighing up to 45 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending and reaching.
  2. Capability to stand or walk for extended periods.

Working Environment:

Employees may experience variations in temperature while performing their duties.

Interpersonal Skills:

  1. Build and maintain effective relationships with team members and customers.
  2. Work independently while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or GED is required.
  2. Preferred experience includes six months in retail sales.
  3. Strong organizational skills for cash handling procedures.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively and perform basic math.
  5. Must pass a drug and criminal background check.
  6. Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
