A prominent and well-established provider of large-scale fabrication and machining solutions is in search of a Vice President of Finance to enhance their expanding team.

Our client specializes in the manufacturing of substantial, metal-fabricated and machined precision components and equipment, primarily serving the defense, aerospace, space exploration, and precision industrial sectors. The subsidiaries collaborate with clients to deliver products that adhere to customer specifications and standards. The operations are conducted in compliance with specific national and international regulations.

The CEO is looking for a proactive leader who thrives as a "working manager" and is deeply involved in the day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the financial stability of the organization; actively work to ensure the company’s financial success.
  • Enhance and standardize processes across all financial areas. Identify weaknesses and transform them into strengths. Ensure accuracy and catch errors before deadlines.
  • Continuously assess corporate structures, financing, legal matters, risk management, taxation, real estate, and compliance regulations. Translate financial options to the CEO's leadership team and propose strategic business directions to mitigate risks and boost profitability.
  • Act as a collaborative member of the management team and provide financial advisory to management.
  • Foster strong relationships with the CEO, the Controller, the management team, and employees.
  • Develop and implement the finance and accounting tactical plan, clearly communicating goals and methods to achieve them.
  • Supervise financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance and mitigate risks while enhancing value.
  • Lead the SEC reporting function and manage the preparation and submission of SEC documents.
  • Oversee the Percent of Completion (POC) method, US GAAP compliance, external audits, and the monthly/quarterly/year-end closing processes for each subsidiary and the parent company. Collaborate with the Controller to refine processes that identify and resolve issues before task completion.
  • Work alongside the CEO and Controller to maintain the financial forecasting process, including timeline development, communication, and ongoing monitoring controls.
  • Implement and enhance key performance metrics to evaluate and communicate real-time performance trends.
  • Prepare a monthly dashboard and review of the company’s financial statements.
  • Manage staffing and budget effectively to eliminate performance barriers and optimize available resources.
  • Develop appropriate succession and cross-training plans.
  • Maximize staff performance and technical expertise through clear tactical goals, training, and skill development.
  • Engage in hands-on management with the CEO and Controller, overseeing all external communications and presentation materials, including earnings releases and investor presentations.
  • Collaborate directly with Investor Relations and the Audit Committee.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field. An MBA and/or CPA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 to 20 years of accounting experience in progressive roles, including at least 5 years in leadership positions. Experience in a publicly traded defense or aerospace manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of SEC Reporting, Percentage of Completion Method, and US GAAP.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to think strategically and influence business decisions using accurate, fact-based financial information.
  • Experience utilizing technology and business intelligence tools to enhance access to information necessary for business operations. Familiarity with ERP systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to develop and present timely financial metrics for executive decision-making.
  • Exceptional leadership skills that inspire confidence and trust.
