Position Overview:
The Montessori Classroom Support Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing the educational experience of children by assisting the Teacher/Program Administrator in creating an engaging and nurturing classroom environment. This position involves supervising children and providing individualized support in various learning areas, including literacy, numeracy, and self-care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing the classroom and maintaining an organized learning space.
  • Work with students in small groups or one-on-one to facilitate learning activities.
  • Design and implement creative crafts and educational activities.
  • Keep accurate records of student progress and behavior.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant childcare regulations in the absence of the Teacher/Program Administrator.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Familiarity with diverse teaching strategies.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Certification in an approved behavioral management technique may be necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 12 semester college credits in early childhood education or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children in a licensed childcare environment.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficient in filing and record-keeping.
  • Skilled in using personal computers and educational software.
  • Understanding of early childhood development and behavior management principles.
  • Ability to supervise and support students effectively.

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Provide instructional support in designated areas.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Build positive relationships with staff, students, and families.

Compensation: This is a part-time position, working 20 hours per week. A competitive hourly wage is offered, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as participation in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) plan and paid time off.
