Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Roadway Design Engineer to join our North Carolina office. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for designing solutions that meet today's needs and tomorrow's demands. Your expertise will be essential in anticipating and accommodating potential issues related to environmental, right-of-way, construction, utilities, safety, and other factors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from preliminary to final design.
  • Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.
  • Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans, including cross sections, traffic control, drainage, and signing and pavement markings.
  • Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling performance.
  • Identify schedule and cost variance and develop/implement recommendations for corrective action.
  • Actively participate and serve in leadership positions in transportation-related organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required.
  • PE preferred; successful candidates will have their PE or the ability to obtain PE within 1 year of hire.
  • 4+ years of progressive engineering experience in transportation and roadway design.
  • Experience working with DOT design projects required; experience with NCDOT or ODOT is a plus.
  • Micro Station, Geopak, and OpenRoads Designer (ORD) design software experience preferred.
