Become an integral part of the Public Utilities division, focusing on the upkeep and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities and pump stations. This role is essential in ensuring that our operations run smoothly and effectively to support the community's needs.- Perform installation, replacement, repair, and modification of mechanical and electrical systems within Public Utilities facilities.
- Engage with a variety of equipment, including pumps, valves, regulators, actuators, control panels, communication systems, motor controls, and electronic filtering systems.
- Manage chemical feed pumps and associated delivery systems, including all necessary piping and valving.
- Adhere to all Federal, State, and County safety regulations, including lock-out/tag-out procedures and confined space entry protocols, along with general industry safety standards.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. * On-Call Duties Required
Candidate ProfileEssential Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in relevant trades, including water/wastewater, industrial electrical, or mechanical fields.
- A valid Florida Driver's License at the time of employment.
- Class "A" CDL must be obtained within six (6) months of employment (cost covered by Sarasota County).
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience operating a 1.5-ton crane truck.
- Skills in pump or motor repair, control panel maintenance, hydraulics, fluid mechanics, and welding.
- Certification from a trade school in pumps, valves, electrical, or fluid mechanics.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Substance Screening: This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment substance screening. Failure to pass will result in disqualification from employment for five (5) years.
Additional InformationStarting Salary: $21.07 (Step 1)
Higher pay may be available for candidates with extensive experience.
