Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Swiss Machining Specialist to join our team at Horst Engineering & Manufacturing Co. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in setting up and operating CNC Swiss Machines to produce high-precision component parts that meet all quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate Swiss Turning machines, including Citizen L20, A20, A32, M32, and M32Y models.
  • Work with blueprints, operation sheets, and other work instructions to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Perform complex set-ups of own work or for others, making all required adjustments to the machinery and obtaining necessary tooling and equipment.
  • Assist other operators or set-up/operators with set-up or production problems and help to train others.
  • Ensure all manufactured parts meet quality standards, performing visual inspections and dimensional verification using measuring instruments.
  • Replace worn or damaged tooling as necessary and verify and record actual part count.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and maintain fluid levels.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and organized, returning excess bar stock or material to the staging area.
  • Notify lead person or supervisor of any parts shortages or machining problems/difficulties.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent, with technical school training a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years of set-up experience, with experience with aerospace products and/or other close tolerance parts a plus.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc and/or Mitsubishi Controls, as well as ability to set and change tools.
  • Ability to use standard gauges and inspection techniques, with experience with SPC, inspection documentation, and problem-solving a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills, with ability to read and write comments, understand operation sheets/blueprints, specifications, and all applicable company/customer paperwork.
  • Ability to read CNC programs and perform other related duties as required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to push/pull/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand for up to 8+ hours.
