Position Overview:

The Financial Analyst will be primarily responsible for the financial reporting of the Campus Store and the innovative Book Store of the Future. This role involves supporting various accounting, cash management, and financial reporting tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct daily reconciliation of cash receipts, credit transactions, and gift card activities, ensuring adherence to proper cash handling protocols.
  2. Perform monthly reconciliations of sales and inventory from the point-of-sale system to the general ledger.
  3. Prepare month-end closing procedures, including comprehensive reports on sales, inventory, and promotions.
  4. Compile monthly financial reporting packets for management, analyzing fluctuations and resolving discrepancies.
  5. Provide accounting support and exceptional customer service to various departments and stakeholders.
  6. Accurately record accounting transactions in the general ledger by reviewing and validating source data.
  7. Analyze budget versus actual data, identifying significant trends and providing insights for management review.
  8. Utilize various tools, including MBS systems and Tableau, to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets.
  9. Design user-friendly reports and dashboards that effectively communicate trends and insights.
  10. Present complex data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  11. Engage in continuous professional development, completing a minimum of 40 hours of training annually.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative business field such as Accounting, Finance, or Management Information Systems.

Experience: Five to six years of relevant experience in accounting and financial analysis, particularly in educational or business technology environments.

Skills:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Experience in creating dashboards using Tableau or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Proficient in querying and transforming large datasets.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to navigate complex information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and modern collaboration tools.
