Job Title: Multifamily LIHTC Underwriting Associate

Fannie Mae is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Multifamily LIHTC Underwriting Associate to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing multifamily transactions, evaluating credit risks, and assisting in the internal approval process and ultimate closing of LIHTC investments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze multifamily transactions, including researching transaction attributes and participating in the underwriting process.
  • Evaluate and report on various credit risks associated with real estate, development teams, and markets.
  • Conduct initial modeling of project development, operating, and benefits proformas.
  • Support the Director and other team members in underwriting and closing potential affordable multifamily proprietary investments.
  • Actively participate in special project teams as needed.
  • Travel to visit prospective investments and markets.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Experience gathering accurate information to explain concepts and answer critical questions.
  • Adept at managing project plans, resources, and people to ensure successful project completion.
  • Working with people with different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal.
  • Knowledge of, or working experience with, multifamily real estate.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with good attention to detail.
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills who is energized by working in a collaborative, dynamic, and evolving team environment.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes.
