Nurse Supervisor

Inova Health System is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a Unit Supervisor for our Telemetry Unit. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care and leading a team of clinical professionals.
Job Summary:The Registered Nurse Unit Supervisor is accountable for the delivery of high-quality patient care and the management of the Telemetry Unit. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct high-quality shift huddles to communicate strategic priorities and ensure seamless patient care.
- Lead effective safety huddles and conduct environmental and safety rounding to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Round on staff regularly to remove barriers to quality care and enhance staff engagement.
- Review core measures and key performance indicators to drive unit-based service outcomes and develop action plans for improvement.
- Participate in emergency preparedness drills and simulation labs to ensure readiness and expertise.
- Ensure adherence to The Joint Commission standards and educate team members on relevant standards.
- Contribute to professional decision-making to support quality improvement work and strategic outcomes.
- Serve as a role model in communication, conflict resolution, and patient care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth patient transitions and discharge planning.
- Accurately assess staffing and supply needs, and proactively resolve discrepancies.
- Participate in annual evaluations, disciplinary processes, and interview/hiring processes for new team members.
- Provide individual coaching and counseling to clinical staff on critical processes and standards.
- Certification: Basic Life Support; Specialty certification (as required by unit) within 12 months of hire.
- Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Experience: 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or Associate's Degree RN within 1 year of completing their BSN).
