Job Overview

As a Security Compliance Evaluator, you will collaborate with a skilled group of professionals to ensure the integrity of cloud and emerging technologies utilized within the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting security compliance evaluations for VA IT systems
  • Identifying vulnerabilities in security frameworks, assessing the severity of weaknesses, and offering recommendations for corrective measures
  • Engaging with various stakeholders to formulate the appropriate plan, scope, and timeline for compliance evaluations
  • Documenting and organizing comprehensive reports of compliance evaluation findings
  • Establishing processes to enhance team efficiency
  • Creating informational updates and action plans based on industry discussions and conference calls

Essential Knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field. An additional 8 years of experience may substitute for a degree
  • Experience in Assessment & Authorization at VA
  • CISSP (highly preferred) or CISA
  • CCSK (preferred - can be obtained shortly after joining)

Mandatory Requirements

  • Experience with risk management frameworks such as NIST 80-53, ISO 27001, ISO 27002, HITRUST, FedRAMP, Zero Trust, etc., is required - FedRAMP experience is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Federal Information Systems and the security compliance evaluation process
  • Information Security experience in a Government, Healthcare, or Privacy Sensitive context
  • Understanding of Cloud Systems Architecture
  • FISMA experience (preferred)
  • HIPAA experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Identity and Access Management (preferred)
  • Must be a US Citizen, with the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance
  • Some travel may be necessary
