About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist PhD to join our team at Cisco. As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for analyzing complex data sets to provide actionable insights and drive business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acquire, clean, and structure data from various sources to maintain databases and data systems.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Develop, prototype, and test predictive algorithms to optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Filter and clean data, and review computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
  • Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports.
Requirements
  • Actively pursuing a PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience with data science tools and techniques, including data manipulation (SQL, Hadoop, etc.).
  • Experience with programming (R, Python, XML, JavaScript, or ETL) frameworks.
  • Knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects, etc.).
  • Use of statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc.).
  • Technical knowledge regarding data models, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
  • Proficient in queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
  • Able to legally live and work in the country for which you're applying, without visa support or sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Oracle databases.
  • Familiarity with advanced machine learning techniques, neural networks, and deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Expertise in analyzing time-series data and forecasting.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies.
  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills to effectively communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
