Position Title: Third Class Engineer

Position Overview: EMCOR Government Services is seeking a Third Class Engineer. This role involves serving as a Stationary Operating Engineer within government facilities, focusing on the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems. This position adheres to the collective bargaining agreement for Local 99.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee site and global operations utilizing the Building Management Control System (BMCS).
  • Ensure optimal performance of operational equipment during assigned shifts.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of equipment, including tasks such as lubrication, leak testing, and control functionality checks.
  • Monitor auxiliary systems and notify the Chief Engineer when adjustments are necessary to optimize equipment load and maintain acceptable indoor conditions.
  • Check and maintain steam pressure reducing stations, vacuum pumps, and sump pumps.
  • Assist in the oversight of repairs to ventilation, refrigeration, and heating systems under the guidance of senior engineers or program managers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Work Schedule: Initial hours will be from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Day shift only).

Qualifications:

  • DC 3rd Class Engineer License
  • Must possess a TS/SCI security clearance with a Polygraph.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of HVAC systems is required.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on all operational and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment and machinery is essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
  • Practical knowledge of Chiller Plant Operations is necessary.
  • Understanding of Building Air Systems is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform heavy physical tasks (lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. and pushing up to 100 lbs.).
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking are expected.
  • Capable of pushing, pulling, or moving equipment, supplies, and parts.
  • Manual dexterity and mobility are essential.
  • Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching are required.
