Position Title: Third Class Engineer

Position Overview: We are seeking a Third Class Engineer to join our team. This role involves functioning as a Stationary Operating Engineer within government facilities, focusing on the operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, refrigeration, and air-conditioning systems. This position is governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee site and global operations via the Building Management Control System (BMCS).
  • Ensure optimal performance of equipment during assigned shifts.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of equipment, including lubrication, leak testing, and control functionality checks.
  • Monitor auxiliary systems and coordinate with the Chief Engineer to maintain equipment load balance and indoor environmental quality.
  • Inspect steam pressure reducing stations, vacuum pumps, and sump pumps.
  • Assist in the repair of ventilation, refrigeration, and heating systems under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisory personnel.
  • Work Schedule: Day shift from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Qualifications:

  • DC 3rd Class Engineer License
  • Must possess a TS/SCI security clearance with a Polygraph.
  • Experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of HVAC systems is required.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on mechanical and operational equipment.
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment and machinery is essential.
  • Capability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
  • Practical knowledge of Chiller Plant Operations is necessary.
  • Understanding of Building Air Systems is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and push up to 100 lbs.
  • Extended periods of standing and walking are required.
  • Capability to move, lift, and manipulate equipment and supplies.
  • Manual dexterity and mobility are essential.
  • Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
