PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Shipping Supervisor is accountable for overseeing all facets of the shipping department, guiding personnel to ensure adherence to established protocols in alignment with Company policies (including SOPs, GMPs, etc.) and relevant Federal and State regulations (such as USDA, OSHA, etc.). The role aims to achieve optimal productivity while fulfilling customer specifications and satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct the shipping department by setting procedures and making adjustments as necessary to meet shipping timelines, enhance efficiencies, and achieve or surpass budgetary goals.
  • Supervise daily operations to guarantee effective transportation and storage of materials utilized and produced by production lines, ensuring safe and efficient loading and unloading of products to minimize contamination and damage risks.
  • Identify and relay opportunities for process improvements and/or eliminate recurring issues (e.g., product holds, accidents, downtime, etc.).
  • Guide, mentor, and train employees, fostering career advancement; provide regular feedback on strengths and areas for development.
  • Implement performance enhancement plans and disciplinary measures consistently and fairly.
  • Promote and adhere to all safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with PPE requirements in mandatory areas to maintain a zero-accident culture.
  • Ensure the organization and maintenance of the department, docks, and storage facilities according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments and shifts to ensure departmental or location objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Understand and comply with the current Union-negotiated contract, if applicable.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

  • This position is a Leadership role, requiring competencies in People Assessment, Delegation, Strategic Planning, Customer Orientation, and Conflict Resolution.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree with relevant coursework from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • A combination of education and work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in a supply chain or shipping environment; experience in perishable goods is preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience, including knowledge of timekeeping requirements, policy compliance, Top 25 behaviors, conflict resolution, and the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively; prior supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Strong customer orientation with exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with all levels of the organization and external customers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Proficient in computer and mathematical skills.
  • Self-motivated individual demonstrating strong initiative and urgency, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Possess a strong customer-centric mindset, high energy, and a sense of urgency.
