YOUR ROLE IN THE TEAM

As a Broadcast Systems Engineer, you will collaborate closely with the Spectrum News Engineering team. Your duties will encompass:

  • Providing production support and troubleshooting at the client level.
  • Installing and configuring broadcast networks and equipment.
  • Evaluating and resolving technical challenges.

You will monitor the status of all systems and devices linked to the broadcast network, diagnose issues, and propose effective solutions. Additionally, you may assist with editing and production tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Experience: Minimum of 3 years in Maintenance or Broadcast Engineering.

Education: Associate's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in applying terminations/connectors to various types of network cables, including coaxial, twisted pair, and optical fiber cables that transmit SDI video, AES audio, RF, and IP signals. Familiarity with connector types such as BNC, N, F, RJ-45, and D-sub-miniature is essential.

Skills: Ability to assist personnel with engineering-related issues while demonstrating professionalism and strong customer service skills. You will also support the facilities department regarding issues impacting broadcast operations.

Abilities: Capability to install and/or support cross-platform systems.

Schedule: Flexibility to work various shifts, including longer hours, weekends, and holidays, with adaptability to schedule changes due to urgent news or severe weather emergencies.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certifications: SBE (Society of Broadcast Engineers) - CBTE, CBNE; FCC General Class License; Network – CCNA.

Working Conditions: Office environment with potential phone or physical presence at the facility for equipment failures or emergencies, including severe weather situations. Travel may be required up to 15% where applicable.
