Position Overview:

The Systems Engineering Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective application of engineering principles and practices within various technical domains. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of established precedents in Systems Engineering, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with other technical disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and assess requirement verification strategies and closure documentation.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee detailed phases of engineering projects.
  • Prepare and coordinate specifications for equipment, including bid evaluations and recommendations.
  • Facilitate engineering collaboration across various specialties and with external stakeholders.
  • Conduct problem analysis and contribute to original design efforts.
  • Draft functional and system analysis to outline design requirements.
  • Establish verification methods for requirements implementation, including acceptance criteria.
  • Create design criteria documents for systems and facilities.
  • Support system-level design verification and requirements traceability.
  • Analyze the impact of proposed changes to requirements.
  • Validate and verify the implementation of requirements in design through assessments.
  • Engage in technical discussions to resolve design challenges.
  • Research and document system operations based on design reviews and discussions with system designers.
  • Utilize model-based Systems Engineering tools for automation and analysis.

Required Knowledge:

  • Understanding of the requirement life cycle, including verification planning.
  • Familiarity with systems, calculations, and methodologies used in Systems Engineering.
  • Knowledge of project controls relevant to Systems Engineering.
  • Awareness of industry standards and design criteria applicable to the discipline.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering tools such as IBM Rationale DOORS or Innoslate.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering or a related field (e.g., Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering) from an accredited institution with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification within 12 months of hire.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of Systems Engineering principles and requirement management.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from the International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE).
  • Experience in Systems Engineering within DOE or DOD projects.
  • Familiarity with implementing requirements in design.
  • Experience with requirements management databases.
  • Background in conducting design and requirements change impact analysis.

Compensation and Benefits:

The expected pay range for this position is $36.62 - $79.18, reflecting various factors such as responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions.
