Job Title: Recovery Support Specialist

Recovery Centers of America is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Recovery Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting patients on their journey to recovery.

Job Summary:

The Recovery Support Specialist will assist patients with substance abuse and mental health disorders, working under the direction of clinical, nursing, and medical staff. This includes assisting patients with daily schedules, leading patients in educational and recreational activities, and accompanying patients to and from examinations and treatments.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor patient activities, provide security checks throughout shift, complete documentation, and record patient behavior.
  • Participate in direct patient care, ensuring patient safety, interacting therapeutically, and assisting with daily activities.
  • Process patient belongings, including search, debugging, and delivery.
  • Partner with clinical staff to conduct a welcoming New Patient Orientation.
  • Aid and instruct patients in the facilitation and presentation of the RCA Clinical Curriculum, with corresponding notes in the medical records system.
  • Understand the principles of 12-Step Programs and their application to the recovery process.
  • May be required to transport patients.
Lead RSS Responsibilities (if applicable):
  • Collaborate to manage high-risk or re-engagement incidents.
  • Ensure adherence to program scheduling, policies, procedures, protocols, or guidelines.
  • Communicate with program leadership/administrator on-call regarding identified program needs.
  • Communicate with inter-disciplinary departments regarding new admissions, discharges, and transfers.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 months experience in a health and human service-related field preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Proficiency with technology hardware, systems, and tools required to perform duties.

Work Environment:

May work in a variety of environments, including professional offices, clinics, hospitals, or out-patient facilities. Spend much of the time on their feet, actively working with patients.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
