Position Summary

The Prepress Production Specialist is responsible for preparing text and graphics for print production. This role involves designing and laying out artwork, formatting text, incorporating digital images, and ensuring the timely production of files, graphics, proofs, and plates. Collaboration with various departments is essential to resolve issues and guarantee the accurate production of client projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all quality control procedures and standards.
  • Assess each project to determine the most effective application for timely and accurate completion.
  • Take responsibility for client files, ensuring all necessary information is available and accurately built according to specifications.
  • Create Apogee files and prepare high- and low-resolution PDF files for client review.
  • Review incoming electronic files from clients for common production issues.
  • Assist clients in creating compatible files for our workflow and communicate potential issues to relevant personnel.
  • Occasionally engage in design work, focusing primarily on enhancing client deliverables.
  • Transform written content and images into finished layouts for various printing formats.
  • Support the development and execution of creative ideas.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends in retail, advertising, and graphic design technology.
  • Generate digital prepress proofs to simulate the final printed product and upload files for client approval.
  • Prepare layouts according to specific work ticket requirements using appropriate software.
  • Proofread and edit all work for accuracy.
  • Process work tickets as necessary.
  • Prepare electronic files for printing or proofing.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs in prepress development.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in both Mac and PC platforms, with expertise in Apogee, Adobe Acrobat, Enfocus Pit-stop, Adobe Creative Suite, and Flight Check Professional.
  • Experience in data entry and managing element metadata.
  • Ability to build and consolidate materials for shipping.
  • Dependability - Consistent attendance and adherence to company policies.

Education and Experience:

Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position include regular use of hands for tasks, frequent sitting, occasional standing and walking, and the ability to reach with hands and arms. Close vision and color vision are necessary.

Work Environment:
