Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) serves as a versatile caregiver under the supervision of the Charge Nurse. The CNA is responsible for delivering safe, age-appropriate care to residents by performing essential care tasks such as Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), mobility assistance, monitoring vital signs, and executing approved technical procedures. The work schedule may vary based on the specific needs of the unit.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Commitment to Exceptional Customer Service by collaborating with the healthcare team, patients, and their families
- Uphold the rights and dignity of residents at all times.
- Ensure confidentiality is maintained.
- Engage in resident rounding as per established standards.
- Respond promptly to telephone and call lights, notifying the appropriate personnel of any needs.
- Address resident concerns and promptly inform the Charge Nurse or manager of any complaints.
- Actively offer assistance and comfort to residents and their families.
- Present oneself in a professional manner, demonstrating sensitivity to the concerns and needs of others.
- Deliver resident-centered care according to the documented Plan of Care.
- Attend to basic resident care needs (e.g., hygiene, nutrition, elimination, comfort measures) as assigned.
- Assist the Charge Nurse/Manager and other healthcare team members with care delivery as needed.
- Provide meals and nourishment in accordance with dietary standards and the care plan.
- Monitor vital signs and document findings, reporting any unusual observations to the Charge Nurse.
- Record all patient care provided in a timely manner as per policy. Maintain a safe and organized environment.
- Perform basic housekeeping tasks in the immediate vicinity of the resident's room and bathroom.
- Clean and sanitize personal care items (e.g., bedpans, urinals) following established protocols.
- Identify and mitigate safety hazards related to fall risks, such as cords and clutter.
- Ensure proper display of Oxygen signage and correct storage of tanks.
- Utilize bedrails, bed alarms, and personal alarms appropriately, encouraging family and visitors to do the same.
- Ensure residents have all necessary supplies for their care.
- Stock essential medical supplies and skin care products in the resident care area.
- Maintain adequate linens and incontinence supplies in the resident's room.
- Provide emotional support to residents and their families.
- Allocate time to listen and build rapport.
- Acknowledge the family's role as decision-makers and caregivers.
- Recognize the inherent value of each resident's life.
- Offer a calming presence.
- Respect any religious or cultural practices of the patient or family.
High school diploma or equivalent required; High School rising Senior in good standing is acceptable.
Licenses and Certifications Required
All certifications must be obtained upon hire unless otherwise specified.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Instructor certification preferred.
- Georgia Driver's License - Preferred.
- Private Vehicle Insurance - Preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant certification required.
Experience Requirements:
Skills Required
Less than 1 year of relevant experience required.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Basic Computer Skills Required.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills are essential.
Ability to collaborate effectively with other healthcare providers in delivering patient care.
Capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Ability to perform well in stressful and emergency situations is crucial.
