Position Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) serves as a vital caregiver, operating under the guidance of the Charge Nurse. This role involves delivering safe, age-appropriate care to residents by executing fundamental care tasks, including Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), mobility assistance, monitoring vital signs, and performing approved technical procedures. The work schedule may vary based on the specific needs of the unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service Excellence: Collaborate with the healthcare team, patients, and families to ensure a high standard of care.
  • Uphold the rights and dignity of residents at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  • Engage in resident rounding as per established protocols.
  • Respond promptly to telephone calls and call lights, notifying the appropriate personnel of any needs.
  • Address resident concerns and report complaints to the Charge Nurse or manager immediately.
  • Offer assistance and comfort to residents and their families proactively.
  • Present oneself in a professional manner, demonstrating sensitivity to the needs of others.

Resident-Centered Care:
  • Deliver care in accordance with the established Plan of Care.
  • Attend to basic resident needs such as hygiene, nutrition, and comfort as assigned.
  • Assist the Charge Nurse and healthcare team with care delivery as needed.
  • Provide meals and nourishment according to dietary standards.
  • Monitor and document vital signs, reporting any unusual findings to the Charge Nurse.
  • Document all patient care activities in a timely manner as per policy.

Safety and Environment:
  • Maintain a safe and organized environment for residents.
  • Perform basic housekeeping duties in the patient care area.
  • Sanitize personal care items according to established standards.
  • Identify and mitigate safety hazards related to fall risks.
  • Ensure proper display of Oxygen signage and correct storage of tanks.
  • Utilize bedrails and alarms appropriately, encouraging family and visitors to do the same.
  • Ensure residents have all necessary supplies for their care.

Emotional Support:
  • Provide time for listening and building rapport with residents and families.
  • Recognize and affirm the family's role in care decisions.
  • Honor the dignity and value of each resident's life.
  • Offer a calming presence to residents.
  • Respect any religious or cultural practices of the resident or family.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • All certifications must be obtained upon hire unless specified otherwise.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Preferred: Georgia Driver's License and private vehicle insurance.
  • Less than one year of related experience is required.
  • Strong communication skills in English are essential.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other healthcare providers.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and function in high-pressure situations.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • Time management skills are essential.
