Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) serves as a versatile caregiver, operating under the guidance of the Charge Nurse. The CNA is responsible for delivering safe, age-appropriate care to residents by executing fundamental care tasks (such as Activities of Daily Living, mobility assistance, monitoring vital signs, and performing approved technical procedures) while also undertaking additional responsibilities to guarantee the provision of preferred care. The work schedule may vary based on the specific needs of the unit.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Excellence in Customer Service through collaboration with the healthcare team, patients, and their families
  • Upholds the rights and dignity of residents at all times.
  • Ensures confidentiality is maintained.
  • Engages in resident rounding in accordance with established standards.
  • Responds promptly to telephone and call lights, notifying the appropriate personnel of any needs for follow-up.
  • Addresses resident concerns and promptly informs the Charge Nurse or manager of any complaints.
  • Actively offers assistance and comfort measures to residents and their families.
  • Presents oneself in a positive and professional manner, demonstrating sensitivity to the concerns and needs of others.
  • Resident-Centered Care
    • Delivers resident care in alignment with the established Plan of Care.
    • Attends to basic resident care needs (e.g., hygiene, nutrition, elimination, physical comfort) as assigned.
    • Assists the Charge Nurse/Manager and other healthcare team members with care delivery as needed.
    • Provides meals and nourishment to residents according to dietary standards and the care plan.
    • Monitors vital signs and documents findings, reporting any unusual observations to the Charge Nurse.
    • Records all patient care provided in a timely manner as per policy.
Ensures a safe and organized environment
  • Performs basic housekeeping tasks in the immediate vicinity of the resident's room and bathroom.
  • Cleans and sanitizes personal care items (e.g., bedpans, urinals) in accordance with policies and standards.
  • Identifies and mitigates safety hazards related to fall risks (e.g., cords, oxygen tubing, clutter).
  • Displays appropriate Oxygen signage and ensures tanks are stored correctly.
  • Utilizes bedrails, bed alarms, and personal alarms correctly, encouraging family and visitors to do the same.
  • Ensures residents have all necessary supplies for care.
  • Stocks essential medical supplies and skin care products in the resident care area.
  • Restocks linens and incontinence supplies in the resident's room.
Provides emotional support for residents and families
  • Takes time to listen and build rapport.
  • Acknowledges the family's role as decision-makers and caregivers.
  • Recognizes the inherent value of each resident's life.
  • Offers a calming presence.
  • Respects any religious or cultural practices of the patient or family.

Required Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent required; High School rising Senior in good standing or Rising High School Junior/Senior also acceptable.

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s)

All certifications must be obtained upon hire unless otherwise specified.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Instructor preferred
  • Georgia Driver's License - Preferred
  • Private Vehicle Insurance - Preferred
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Required Minimum Experience:

Required Minimum Skills

Less than 1 year of related experience required.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Basic Computer Skills Required.

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

Ability to collaborate with other healthcare providers in delivering patient care.

Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Ability to perform well in stressful and emergency situations is essential.
