Position Summary:

The Culinary Assistant plays a vital role in the kitchen by assisting in the preparation of a variety of food items for the dining establishments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare high-quality, fresh food items according to established recipes and preparation methods as directed by the culinary team.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the work area to ensure a safe environment for guests and staff.
  • Exhibit the ability to prepare a wide range of food items as required by the menu.
  • Adapt to changes in menu items and production techniques with ease.
  • Ensure kitchen safety and sanitation standards are upheld, including the organization of storage areas.
  • Restock food items on the prep line to guarantee proper presentation and availability.
  • Follow personal hygiene protocols diligently.
  • Address guest preferences and concerns in a professional manner.
  • Monitor food storage and serving temperatures to ensure safety.
  • Conduct taste tests of prepared items to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Demonstrate excellent attendance and flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
  • Communicate respectfully and positively with both guests and team members.
  • Comply with all relevant liquor laws and regulations.
  • Adhere to the Guest Service Agreement for BlueWater Resort & Casino.
  • Follow all policies and procedures set forth by the Food & Beverage department.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, in accordance with company policies.
Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
  • Experience in a culinary setting or training from a culinary school is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience in food service.
  • Possession of a valid food handler's card and compliance with health training requirements.
  • Ability to obtain a gaming license as required.
  • Willingness to adhere to health and safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Participation in training related to cleaning and disinfecting protocols is mandatory.
Uniform Standards:

Uniforms will be specific to the kitchen environment. Hair must be secured in compliance with health regulations, and personal appearance must meet professional standards.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position include regular standing, walking, and the ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds. The role may require bending, stooping, and working in various positions. Vision requirements include the ability to see close and at a distance.

Work Environment:

This position primarily operates indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks. The noise level may vary from quiet to moderate, with potential exposure to environmental factors. Interactions with guests and staff are common, and the environment may involve managing challenging situations.
