Position: Clinical Neuropsychologist
OVERVIEW:
The Neuropsychology Division at Portercare Adventist Health System is seeking a Clinical Neuropsychologist to conduct evaluations, diagnose conditions, and provide treatment recommendations for individuals facing various cognitive challenges due to medical issues.
Patients may present with conditions such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain tumors, exposure to toxins, spinal cord injuries, anoxic events, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and dementia, among others. Co-existing psychological or psychiatric conditions may also be present.
Referrals for neuropsychological assessments come from a diverse range of medical professionals, including primary care physicians, neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuro-interventional radiologists, epileptologists, sports medicine specialists, and hospitalists. The role encompasses both outpatient and inpatient populations, with a significant focus on outpatient referrals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Clinical Neuropsychologist will be responsible for:
- Administering cognitive, neuropsychological, and psychological assessments with the assistance of psychometrists.
- Scoring and interpreting assessment results, and compiling comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation reports that include diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Experience in pre-surgical evaluations for epilepsy patients considering surgical options, including participation in WADA testing approximately two to four times monthly.
- Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology from an APA accredited institution.
- Completion of a two-year post-doctoral fellowship/residency in neuropsychology in accordance with the Houston Guidelines; board eligible or board certified.
- Must possess licensure in Colorado for independent practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of healthcare providers and staff in a collegial environment. Strong organizational skills and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced setting are essential.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Fluency in both English and Spanish, with the capability to evaluate patients in Spanish.
EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology from an APA accredited program.
- Completion of a two-year post-doctoral fellowship/residency in neuropsychology aligned with the Houston Guidelines.
- Board eligible or board certified.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION:
- Must hold valid licensure in Colorado for independent practice.
