Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Engineer to join our team at the Town of Barnstable. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, designing, budgeting, managing, inspecting, and executing various projects within the Department of Public Works (DPW).

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and mentor junior engineering staff members
  • Responsible for technical Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) of DPW designs
  • Design, develop, and potentially stamp, engineering drawings and specifications
  • Perform all other related work as required
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Ten (10) years of experience in engineering design and construction
  • Class D driver's license required
  • Massachusetts Professional Engineer certificate
Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering
  • Working knowledge of state and local regulations pertaining to the design, construction, and repair of DPW infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of state and local procurement regulations and policies
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and policies
