Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Project Engineer to join our team at the Town of Barnstable. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing various projects within the DPW, including planning, developing, designing, budgeting, managing, inspecting, and executing projects related to horizontal and vertical infrastructure, marine infrastructure, and solid waste management.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering design and construction. They will be required to design, develop, and potentially stamp engineering drawings and specifications, as well as oversee and mentor junior engineering staff members. The successful candidate will also be responsible for technical Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) of DPW designs.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage various projects within the DPW, including planning, developing, designing, budgeting, managing, inspecting, and executing projects related to horizontal and vertical infrastructure, marine infrastructure, and solid waste management.
  • Design, develop, and potentially stamp engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Oversee and mentor junior engineering staff members.
  • Responsible for technical Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) of DPW designs.
  • Perform all other related work as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering design and construction.
  • Class D drivers license required.
  • Massachusetts Professional Engineer certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering, the design standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment involved with the maintenance, repair, and construction of DPW related projects.
  • Working knowledge of state and local regulations pertaining to the design, construction, and repair of DPW infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of state and local procurement regulations and policies.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and policies.
  • Knowledge of engineering-related computer application programs.
