We are seeking a skilled Emergency Department Technician to join our team at the University of Virginia Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide technical patient care and assistance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Key Responsibilities- Render technical patient care and assistance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Ensure treatment rooms and the storeroom are appropriately stocked with supplies to facilitate prompt patient treatment.
- Organize and prioritize technical patient services delivered according to Medical Center and department policies and procedures.
- Implement actions to ensure efficient and effective services to patients according to department policies and procedures.
- Apply principles of safety and infection control to ensure the safety of patients and staff according to Medical Center and department policies and procedures.
- Interface effectively with peers and customers and assume responsibility for professional development of self and others per department policy.
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- No experience required
- Must be State Certified as one of the following: EMT-B, EMT-C, EMT-ST, or EMT-P
- American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required
The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/walking and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, humidity, cold, heat, radiation, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids, infectious disease, noise and dust.
