Emergency Department Technician

Job Summary:

As an Emergency Department Technician at Virginia Jobs, you will play a vital role in providing technical patient care and assistance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that treatment rooms and the storeroom are appropriately stocked with supplies to facilitate prompt patient treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and prioritize technical patient services delivered according to Medical Center and department policies and procedures.
  • Implement actions to ensure efficient and effective services to patients according to department policies and procedures.
  • Apply principles of safety and infection control to ensure the safety of patients and staff according to Medical Center and department policies and procedures.
  • Interface effectively with peers and customers and assume responsibility for professional development of self and others per department policy.

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • No experience required
  • State Certified as one of the following: EMT-B EMT-C EMT-ST or EMT-P
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required

Physical Demands:

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, humidity, cold, heat, radiation, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids, infectious disease, noise and dust.
