Pediatric Emergency Department Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Emergency Department Technician to join our team at the University of Virginia. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our young patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical patient care and assistance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Ensure that treatment rooms and the storeroom are appropriately stocked with supplies to ensure prompt patient treatment.
  • Organize and prioritize technical patient services delivered according to Medical Center and department policies and procedures.
  • Implement actions to ensure efficient and effective services to patients according to department policies and procedures.
  • Apply principles of safety and infection control to ensure the safety of patients and staff according to Medical Center and department policies and procedures.
  • Interface effectively with peers and customers and assume responsibility for professional development of self and others per department policy.
Requirements:
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • No experience required
  • Must be State Certified as one of the following: EMT-B EMT-C EMT-ST or EMT-P
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required
Physical Demands:

The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, humidity, cold, heat, radiation, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids, infectious disease, noise and dust.
