Overview:


This role involves monitoring the hospital premises to ensure a secure and healthy environment for patients, families, and staff.

This position requires maintaining a constructive relationship with Children's Health System of Texas employees, various agencies, and the public to facilitate effective communication and procedures in a professional manner.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular patrols of the hospital facility, both inside and outside, enforcing hospital policies and providing directions and assistance with security issues.
  • Ensure all hospital entry and exit points are secure.
  • Verify the identification of all individuals entering the facility.
  • Document incidents occurring on hospital property.
  • Report any irregularities, emergencies, or suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
  • Address security concerns raised by staff, visitors, and patient families across all Children's Health System of Texas locations.
  • Respond to audible emergency alarms and follow instructions relayed via public safety radio.
  • Communicate effectively with the public and transmit information clearly over the public safety radio.
  • Provide escort services to students, staff, faculty, or visitors as needed.
  • Offer assistance to motorists when required.
  • Remain on foot for extended periods.
  • Be adaptable to changing assignments based on departmental needs.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
This is a full-time role.

Occasional travel to other Children's Health locations may be required.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience (e.g., customer service, healthcare, hospitality, security, law enforcement, or military) is required.

Educational Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Texas Department of Public Safety - Texas Private Security Bureau Registration - Non-Commissioned Security Officer training and certification within 6 months of employment is required.
  • Valid Texas Department of Public Safety Driver's License upon employment is required.
  • Pediatric Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior (PPMAB) training must be completed and renewed according to standards within 60 days, required.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as per CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements within 60 days, required.
  • Basic Level Certification (CHSO) through the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety organization must be obtained within 180 days of hire for new employees; existing employees must obtain this certification by the specified deadline.
