Position Summary

We are in search of a committed and experienced Landscape Operations Supervisor with a strong background in landscape design and maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of local flora suited for warm climates, with prior experience in resort upkeep being a plus. The candidate should be well-organized, proactive, and a team player, capable of overseeing projects, selecting appropriate materials, managing budgets, and nurturing client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Development:

  • Create and execute landscape plans that enhance the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the resort.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of landscape designs into overall property plans.
  • Focus on sustainable and eco-friendly design practices.

Landscaping and Irrigation Management:

  • Coordinate with vendors and team members to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Oversee equipment inventory and procurement, preparing proposals for management review.
  • Support team recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance assessments.
  • Prioritize landscaping tasks such as fertilization, irrigation, seeding, and mowing based on site requirements.
  • Evaluate project needs and recommend effective solutions for plant selection and design.
  • Maintain accurate 'as-built' drawings and collaborate on project planning and budgeting.
  • Manage vendor selection and subcontractor oversight for landscape contracts.
  • Establish and uphold high standards for plant care and environmental sustainability.
  • Supervise project execution, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Review and approve third-party documentation.

Indoor and Outdoor Plant Management:

  • Oversee the inventory and procurement of plants and materials, preparing proposals as necessary.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping for plant placement in guest areas.
  • Supervise plant care, including watering, fertilizing, and pruning.
  • Schedule maintenance based on guest activities and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Verify and approve third-party documentation.

Beach Maintenance:

  • Supervise daily beach cleaning and sand leveling, coordinating team efforts.
  • Monitor weather forecasts and plan maintenance accordingly.
  • Manage bobcat operations and maintenance, keeping accurate records.

Innovation and Enhancement:

  • Stay informed about the latest trends and technologies in landscaping and horticulture.
  • Implement new techniques and practices to improve the property’s landscape.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of landscape maintenance operations.

This role requires strong leadership skills and a commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences while maximizing operational efficiency and profitability.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in landscape management, preferably within a luxury hospitality environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of plants, horticultural practices, and irrigation systems.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage budgets and teams.
  • Excellent organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in landscape design software and Microsoft Office Suite.
