We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Duke Health Integrated Practice. As a key member of our Cardiology department, you will be responsible for coordinating and participating in various technical procedures involving radioactive materials and measurement instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and participate in in vivo and in vitro studies, operating radiation detection and measurement instrumentation, including stationary imaging devices and scintillation gamma apparatus.
- Calibrate and prepare radiopharmaceutical materials for administration to patients, formulate radiopharmaceutical materials from pre-prepared kits, and review calibration data to detect trends indicating instrument malfunction.
- Evaluate recorded images for technical quality, process computerized image data, and explain procedures to patients.
- Assume care for physical and psychological needs of patients of all ages during examinations, initiate life support measures if necessary, and perform IV, EKG prep, and tracing.
- Maintain daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual quality control on nuclear imaging equipment and hot lab equipment.
- Monitor the Nuclear Medicine Department for possible contamination using a portable survey meter.
- Ensure compliance with ICANL accreditation standards, NC Department of Radiation Protection, and JACHO standards.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of new procedures and techniques to meet specific protocol needs.
- Consult with physicians concerning the application of nuclear medicine procedures and techniques.
- Provide instruction and technical guidance in training new employees and assist with the education and training of new physicians.
- Requires successful completion of an AMA-approved Nuclear Medicine Technology training program.
- Minimum of two years' experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, with experience in Cardiology.
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
