Job Summary

The Salvation Army Central Territory is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Intake Worker to join our team. As a key member of our Social Services department, you will play a vital role in providing support to our clients and ensuring the smooth operation of our shelter.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct intake interviews with incoming residents to assess their needs and provide appropriate support
  • Assign rooms and distribute necessary items to residents
  • Provide supervision and support to residents, ensuring they understand and adhere to shelter rules and policies
  • Answer phone calls and take messages as needed
  • Clean shelter areas as required
  • Prepare snacks for residents and oversee lunch and dinner preparations
  • Review log books and update entries as needed
  • Distribute medications as required
  • Supervise volunteers and community service workers when assigned
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with the homeless population is desirable
