Adherence to WFS site security protocols for the warehouse and other operations is mandatory. Awareness of the activities of WFS staff, security personnel, and visitors is crucial, and any security violations or suspicious activities must be reported to management or through the WFS whistleblower program. This position operates under a collective bargaining agreement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently load and unload cargo from aircraft, handling items weighing up to 70 lbs within restricted cargo zones, and maneuver loaded containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs on rollers to and from aircraft.
  • Operate vehicles ranging from 3,000 to 80,000 lbs in congested areas, skillfully navigating around aircraft and other vehicles while ensuring safety.
  • Assist in the push-out of aircraft by driving an 80,000 lb vehicle or providing guidance to the driver, utilizing depth perception in crowded environments.
  • Transport cargo to and from aircraft using a 3,000 lb vehicle, effectively reading off-load sheets to ascertain cargo destinations.
  • Engage in proper communication with the cockpit during aircraft push-out and towing, utilizing hand signals and verbal commands.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with colleagues and customers.
  • Adapt to a high-noise work environment.
  • Respond to verbal commands and safety alerts, with or without visual aids.
  • Lift and move bags weighing up to 70 lbs onto or from conveyor systems.
  • Connect and disconnect water hoses and electric cables to/from aircraft as required.
  • Perform de-icing procedures on aircraft at heights, applying glycol to wings and fuselage.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

Note: This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with the Transport Workers Union (TWU), which requires membership and payment of union dues.

Preferred Skills

  • Capability to listen and respond to customer inquiries.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds (31.9 kg).
  • Capability to perform tasks in varying weather and environmental conditions, including exposure to jet engine fumes and noise.
  • Physical agility to twist, turn, stoop, bend, reach, and grip while handling baggage.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the work shift.
  • Willingness to wear a uniform and adhere to grooming standards that reflect a positive corporate image.
  • Ability to accurately judge distances.
