Role Summary

We are in search of a highly experienced and driven Director of High Performance Computing (HPC) to spearhead the creation of innovative HPC solutions. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in systems architecture, distributed computing, and computer systems design, showcasing a proven track record in developing low-latency, dependable cloud-based applications.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in High Performance Computing to drive the advancement of physics simulation, utilizing next-generation technologies such as cutting-edge computational chips, scalable cloud infrastructures, and AI-driven capabilities. You will be encouraged to think beyond conventional limits, innovate fearlessly, and envision the transformative potential of simulation technology in the years to come, all powered by Flexcompute's groundbreaking platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute systems architecture, focusing on distributed systems and computer design.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in creating architectures for distributed, low-latency, and reliable cloud applications, while developing and maintaining hybrid cloud computing and storage solutions.
  • Facilitate integration between HPC and cloud technologies, encompassing databases, frontend libraries, microservices, and monolithic applications.
  • Acquire a solid understanding of scientific computing and the critical role of GPUs in enhancing computational applications.
  • Oversee the efficient utilization of computing clusters equipped with high-speed interconnects, optimizing for performance and efficiency.
  • Lead a team of engineers, promoting a culture of innovation, hands-on experience, and continuous professional development.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, electronic information engineering, communication engineering, or related disciplines.
  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in HPC computing, system administration, databases, and networking.
  • A solid grounding in computer science, with expertise in Python, Java, MPI, and distributed computing environments.
  • Experience in compiling and installing C++ source code.
  • Proficient in architecting AWS cloud computing and storage solutions.
  • Expertise in Linux operating systems, software deployment (such as Ansible), SaaS, networking, and backend security.
  • Adept at learning and innovating in a dynamic startup environment, implementing leading-edge software solutions.
  • Experience in web frontend design is preferred but not mandatory.
