Plant Operations Supervisor

The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the plant during the swing shift, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations under the guidance of the Plant Manager and Division General Manager.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Plant Manager to ensure that plant operations adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, including the preparation of necessary operating permits.
- Lead and motivate plant staff through effective communication methods such as meetings, emails, and individual discussions to achieve performance objectives.
- Monitor and manage plant costs by analyzing purchase orders, invoices, and financial reports, and proposing cost-reduction strategies in consultation with management.
- Assist in the recruitment process by participating in interviews and making recommendations for new hires, while also guiding staff in line with company policies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies regarding quality control, safety regulations, and operational guidelines.
- Oversee daily activities of plant personnel to maximize efficiency and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Address production-related issues by investigating root causes and implementing corrective actions, while keeping management informed of significant challenges.
- Manage maintenance schedules and collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure timely repairs and upkeep of plant facilities.
- Oversee workforce management, including timekeeping, performance evaluations, and employee development to foster a culture of cross-training and advancement.
- Analyze various reports to identify opportunities for improving productivity and financial performance, and communicate findings to management.
- Promote and uphold safety standards within the facility to ensure a secure working environment for all employees.
- Maintain professional interactions with all stakeholders and adhere to company procedures and attendance policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the plant.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 2-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in an industrial plant environment; rendering plant experience is advantageous.
- Minimal travel required (less than 10%).
- Familiarity with CMPAF, FSMA, and APPI regulations is a plus.
- Ability to work night shifts as needed.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and plumbing repairs.
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
- Effective communication skills in English; knowledge of a second language is beneficial.
Physical Requirements
Constantly required to communicate effectively with team members and vendors, operate maintenance tools, and navigate industrial equipment. Must be able to lift and transport materials weighing up to 70 lbs and work in various environmental conditions.
