Job Summary

This role is responsible for performing predictive and preventive maintenance analysis to anticipate and circumvent equipment failures, enhancing uptime and reducing costs.

The primary responsibilities include fabricating, steel, sheet metal, bending, machining, design, welding, and pipe fitting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized technical tasks to support operations, including IT development, research support, and skilled trade.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems, including mechanical and electrical.
  • Evaluate and recommend equipment improvements to improve availability, capability, and yield.
  • Perform equipment failure analyses, including preventive and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems.
  • Prepare technical reports to document equipment modifications and maintenance procedures.
  • Prepare for new or relocated equipment installations by sizing, wiring, piping, ventilation, and other requirements.
  • Receive, rig, unload, transport, install, assemble, troubleshoot, and fine-tune new or relocated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and perform necessary repairs on existing equipment.
  • Assist engineers in identifying worn or damaged parts needed to complete repairs.
  • Interface with and assist outside contractors, OEMs, and technology process support groups in installing new and repairing or upgrading existing processes.
  • Safely handle hazardous materials and hazardous wastes.
  • Interface with the in-plant computerized machine maintenance system to show the status of work and time spent on the job.

  • Works within standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods.
Education, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates

This role requires a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant work experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred areas of education, certifications, and skills include vocational training or equivalent experience, basic math, ability to read and understand equipment manuals, work orders, schematics, and blueprints, and ability to use a personal computer and various software such as SAP MII.

Additionally, the ideal candidate should have working knowledge and skills to perform a defined set of analytical/scientific methods or operational processes, apply experience and skills to complete assigned work within their area of expertise, and communicate verbally and in writing with plant personnel, supervisors, and managers.

Required Licenses & Certificates
  • Must have successfully completed training for and is certified or pursuing certification as a State Journeyman, appropriate to plant location, in electrical or machine maintenance, or has 5 years or more documented maintenance repair experience in a manufacturing environment.
Total Span of Control and Authority

This role reports to a Manager Job Title and has no direct reports.

The geographical scope is North America, and the management scope is none.

Relationships

This role has external relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners, and internal relationships with plant personnel, supervisors, and managers.

Travel, Physical Requirements, Working Conditions and Equipment

This role requires occasional travel and physical demands include carrying, lifting, climbing, kneeling, stooping, standing, sitting, and walking.

The working conditions include plant floor, various shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays, and exposure to extreme heat, cold, heights, and confined spaces.

The equipment used includes computers, keyboards, safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, power tools, and heavy machinery.
