Job Overview

Position Summary

The Commissioning Technician will be responsible for providing technical guidance and oversight in the commissioning and field engineering activities for Bemana, LLC. This role serves as a vital link between clients, engineering teams, service departments, and operational units to ensure the successful implementation of our Distributed Infrastructure Systems. The focus will be on adhering to established processes and procedures that ensure high-quality outcomes aligned with client expectations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in commercial or industrial settings, specifically with generators, ATS, and/or switchgear.
  • Experience with PLCs, generator controllers, and protective relays is essential.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.
  • Willingness to travel overnight for extended periods as project demands dictate (up to 75%-95%).
  • Experience in commissioning is advantageous.
  • NFPA 70 Arc Flash Certification is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook.
  • Advanced knowledge of AC/DC Electrical Theory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately document changes made on-site to As-Shipped Drawings and Settings Files.
  • Program and modify PLCs, generator controllers, and protective relays as necessary.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of power distribution systems, including switchgear and generator critical applications.
  • Follow project scopes diligently to avoid scope creep.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules effectively.
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Thoroughly understand electrical schematics and troubleshoot system malfunctions while identifying design errors for efficiency improvements.
  • Assist in creating and executing engineering change notices.
  • Communicate professionally with various stakeholders through phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Act as a liaison to engineering teams to address field issues during start-up and commissioning phases.
  • Provide quality oversight during complex field start-ups.
  • Support service technicians during intricate start-ups through remote or on-site assistance.
  • Manage onsite engineering changes to drawings and settings files effectively.
  • Communicate open action items and develop initiatives for action planning and task assignments.
  • Contribute to the development of commissioning and testing plans to ensure successful system start-ups.
  • Facilitate communication between project management and engineering to maintain job scope and schedule integrity.
  • Build and sustain strong working relationships with project management, design engineers, and service departments to support product improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of field retrofit projects.
  • Lead customer witness testing for complex systems within the manufacturing environment.
  • Timely escalate issues to leadership that may impact project quality or timelines to ensure customer satisfaction without incurring excessive costs.
