Position Summary
The Commissioning Technician will be responsible for overseeing and managing the technical aspects of commissioning and field engineering activities for Bemana, LLC. This role serves as a vital link between clients, engineering teams, service departments, and operational units to ensure the successful implementation of our Distributed Infrastructure Systems. The primary focus will be on adhering to established processes and procedures to deliver high-quality outcomes that meet client expectations.
Key Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in commercial or industrial settings, specifically with generators, ATS, and/or switchgear.
- Experience with PLCs, generator controllers, and protective relays is essential.
- Valid Driver's License is necessary.
- Must successfully pass background checks and drug screenings.
- Willingness to travel overnight for extended periods based on project requirements (up to 75%-95%).
- Experience in commissioning is advantageous.
- NFPA 70 Arc Flash Certification is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook.
- Strong understanding of AC/DC Electrical Theory.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately document any onsite modifications to As-Shipped Drawings and Settings Files.
- Program and edit PLCs, generator controllers, and protective relays as needed.
- Demonstrate expertise in power distribution systems, particularly in switchgear and generator critical applications.
- Understand and adhere to project scopes to avoid scope creep.
- Develop and maintain project schedules effectively.
- Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of electrical schematics and troubleshoot system malfunctions while identifying design errors to enhance efficiency.
- Assist in creating and implementing engineering change notices.
- Communicate professionally with colleagues and clients through various channels.
- Act as a liaison to engineering teams to address field issues during startup and commissioning phases.
- Provide oversight during complex field start-ups and assist service technicians as required.
- Manage onsite engineering changes to drawings and settings files.
- Effectively communicate ongoing action items and develop action plans.
- Contribute to the creation of commissioning and testing plans to ensure successful system start-ups.
- Facilitate communication between project management and engineering to maintain job scope and schedule integrity.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with project management, design engineers, and service departments to support product improvement initiatives.
- Participate in the development and execution of field retrofit projects.
- Lead customer witness testing of complex systems within the manufacturing environment.
- Timely escalate issues to leadership that may impact project quality or timelines to ensure customer satisfaction.
