Position Overview:

The Medical Equipment Management Specialist is essential in our clinical settings, ensuring that patients receive exemplary support and guidance regarding their prescribed medical equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in ongoing communication with the DME Manager, Clinical Office Coordinators, Providers, and Clinical Staff.
  • Collaborate with the DME Manager and clinical teams to instruct patients on the correct usage and fitting of durable medical equipment.
  • Inform patients about their financial obligations related to their medical equipment.
  • Update Providers on any modifications to DME Policies and Procedures.
  • Oversee DME inventory at designated clinical sites and fulfill daily responsibilities within the DME program.
  • Work closely with the DME Billing Department and Prior Authorization Specialist to guarantee precise and prompt billing and preauthorization requests.
  • Act as a liaison for Billing, Insurance Verification, and DME Surgery Coordination at assigned clinics.
  • Maintain effective communication with fellow DME Coordinators to ensure superior patient care and inventory oversight.
  • Assist in training Clinical Staff and new employees on the proper use and fitting of medical equipment.
  • Undertake additional tasks and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to think critically and demonstrate strong emotional intelligence in public interactions.
  • Familiarity with basic anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Capacity to manage, organize, and complete departmental projects as requested by management.
  • Certification as an Athletic Trainer, Orthotic Fitter, or Orthopaedic Technician is preferred but not mandatory.
