Position Overview:
The Medical Equipment Management Specialist is integral to our clinical operations, ensuring that patients receive exemplary care and comprehensive guidance regarding their prescribed equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and oversee the designated clinical segment of our DME program.
- Conduct daily measurements and fittings in accordance with provider directives.
- Collaborate with the DME Manager and clinical staff to instruct patients on the correct usage and fitting of medical equipment.
- Inform patients about their financial obligations related to DME.
- Liaise with providers to communicate updates on DME policies and procedures.
- Manage inventory for DME at assigned clinical sites and fulfill daily operational tasks within the DME program.
- Work closely with the Billing Department and Prior Authorization Specialist to ensure precise and timely billing and preauthorization requests.
- Serve as a contact point for billing inquiries, insurance verification, and DME coordination at assigned clinics.
- Maintain effective communication with fellow DME Coordinators to guarantee superior patient care and inventory oversight.
- Assist in training clinical staff and new employees on the proper use and fitting of medical equipment.
- Take ownership of assigned locations and contribute to the overall mission of the practice.
- Undertake additional duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong customer service and patient care skills.
- Exceptional organizational and communication abilities.
- Capacity to think critically and demonstrate emotional intelligence in public interactions.
- Proficient problem-solving skills to ensure patients understand the proper use of their equipment.
- Familiarity with basic anatomy and medical terminology.
- Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.

- Willingness to manage and complete departmental projects as requested by management.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree, Bachelor of Science, or Associate degree is preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience in DME or orthopaedics is essential.
- Certification as an Athletic Trainer, Orthotic Fitter, or Orthopaedic Technician is preferred but not mandatory.
