About the Role

Momentum for Health is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Crisis Residential Specialist to join our team at Litteral House. As a key member of our residential crisis team, you will provide integrated, recovery-oriented, rehabilitation, and case management services to individuals in psychiatric crisis in a community-based, residential setting.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Implement individual service and treatment plans, facilitating psychiatric consultations and group sessions.
  2. Provide medical follow-up assistance, coordinate care with medical doctors, and assist with medical issues, schedules, and transportation.
  3. Facilitate client insurance benefits, determine coverage status, and assist with benefits application processes.
  4. Develop and run groups aimed at strengthening individuals' behavioral health, including symptom management and relapse prevention.
  5. Provide service to clients and their families, linking them with professional and community resources.
  6. Interface directly with clients, providing counseling, particularly during times of conflict and crisis intervention.
  7. Monitor clients' independent living skills, assess their stability, and approve daily and weekend passes.
  8. Identify, assess, and respond to crisis situations, ensuring the safety of both residents and the facility.
  9. Assist with housekeeping activities, including cleaning, cooking meals, and doing laundry.
  10. Complete hourly tracking and perform other tasks assigned by program managers.
Requirements
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education plus five years' related experience.
  • First Aid Certification or successful completion within 30 days of hire.
  • Certification in writing 5150 holds or can obtain certification within six months of hire.
  • Meet government and/or regulatory standards for continuing education credits and recertification.
  • Proven typing speed of 30 net wpm.
  • Computer literacy and ability to use MS Office applications and Windows-based databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a small team environment.
  • Engage and communicate effectively with others in both verbal and written English.
  • Use second language skills for interpretation and translation verbally and in written form.
  • Monitor and support developmental growth and the recovery process.
  • Manage multiple tasks and demands.
  • Employ tact and diplomacy, exercise good judgment, and act calmly in emergency situations.
  • Work from a strengths-based, harm-reduction, social rehabilitation model.
  • Work effectively with persons differing in value systems, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, language capabilities, and disabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with individuals identified as those with serious mental illness who meet specific criteria.
  • Exhibit exemplary customer service, compassion, and care in the execution of all duties and interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a behavioral health setting.
  • One year previous experience in a residential behavioral health setting for positions in Crisis Residential Programs.
  • Experience in a behavioral health setting or with high symptom acuity.
  • Eligibility for MHRS certificate.
  • Appropriate volunteer and internship experience and personal experience in the behavioral health system.
  • Previous experience working with people who have abused substances.
