Qualifications:
Candidates should meet or exceed the standards established by recognized industry trade organizations. A High School diploma or GED is preferred. Certification from a vocational institution or completion of an apprenticeship program is advantageous. A minimum of 3 years of experience and a solid understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems and methodologies are required.

Technicians must possess all necessary hand tools to efficiently execute their responsibilities and demonstrate a willingness to mentor others.


Licensing/Certification:
A valid driver's license is mandatory. Valid ASE certifications are highly desirable.

Communication Skills:
Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and listening skills are essential. Attention to detail is a must.

Technical Skills:
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment is required.

Analytical Skills:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to execute detailed written or oral instructions. Candidates should be able to prioritize tasks and adapt to meet the diverse needs of our clientele.

Ability to perform assigned duties with precision, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, and cooperation while working with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct test drives on every vehicle prior to service or repair to confirm customer complaints and assess drivability and other vehicle issues.
- Inspect vehicle engines and/or mechanical/electrical components to diagnose and document findings for necessary repairs.
- Utilize protective seat covers and floor mats when appropriate.
- Employ company-provided diagnostic/checklist sheets to ensure all critical components are examined.
- Adhere to state vehicle regulations by testing engine, safety, and combustion standards using computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Diagnose issues using testing procedures to identify the responsible system(s) for the problem.
- Develop an understanding of the system(s) to pinpoint the failing component.

Investigate the cause of the failing component to determine if it is solely responsible or if other related components contributed to the failure.

- Perform check engine light diagnostics and brake inspections.

Document in writing on the work order the steps taken to diagnose customer complaints and malfunctioning parts, as well as the necessary actions to replace defective components and any other relevant information about the vehicle.

Before returning the work order to the service advisor or service manager, the automotive technician must complete the complimentary vehicle inspection form thoroughly.

The technician will demonstrate thoroughness by checking each individual box on the inspection sheet. Straight lines through the middle of the boxes are not acceptable.

Recommend comprehensive repairs that address customer concerns, ensuring the customer can rely on the repair lasting for 3 years/36,000 miles.

- Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as tune-ups and fluid flushes.

Conduct oil changes, tire services, and state inspections as needed to provide timely service that meets customer demands.

- Execute repairs according to established company protocols.
- Replace necessary parts and components with high-quality parts that offer a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.

Confirm repairs and services through a thorough test drive on a predetermined route established by the store manager.

- Undertake additional duties as required within the scope of responsibility.
