The Medical Lab Technician will perform a range of patient testing and administrative duties to support clinical operations within the organization.
Key ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Processing specimens directly.
- Conducting Gram stains on specimens.
- Performing rapid antigen tests for various pathogens.
- Executing rapid molecular/PCR testing for respiratory viruses and other conditions.
- Operating Total Lab Automation instrumentation.
- Ensuring quality control of instruments, reagents, and media.
Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:30 PM - 7:00 AM (4 x 10hr shifts)
Additional Responsibilities- Investigating issues related to equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow.
- Participating in team projects or special assignments.
- Providing training for Clinical Laboratory Science students and new employees.
- Conducting quality control and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Performing routine and specialized laboratory tests, observing reactions, and providing data.
- Preparing specimens and reagents as necessary.
- Reporting results to healthcare providers and consulting on test outcomes.
- Reviewing test results for accuracy and timely error correction.
Education: A Bachelor's of Science degree is required. Candidates must meet eligibility requirements to sit for the MT exam within 12 months of hire.
Licensure/Certification: Candidates must obtain MLS/MT (ASCP), MT (NCA), or MT (AMT) certification within 12 months of hire.
Experience: No prior experience is necessary.
