Job Overview

Position Summary: The Production General Helper plays a crucial role in the assembly of component parts for commercial evaporative cooler units. This position involves ensuring the accuracy of component quantities, conducting quality checks on finished products, managing inventory, and utilizing hand tools and mechanical equipment to create robust products. As a frontline contributor, the General Helper is integral to delivering high-quality, factory-assembled solutions to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble parts and sub-assemblies while performing final quality tests.
  • Execute repetitive assembly tasks efficiently.
  • Package and transfer completed units to the designated storage area for shipment.
  • Construct cooling units, including soldering piping and wiring, while inspecting for quality.
  • Engage in various assembly tasks such as wiring, brazing, soldering, taping, and insulating, following work orders and production drawings.
  • Interpret technical instructions and engineering blueprints accurately.
  • Assess the quality of materials and components used in production.
  • Maintain inventory of parts and tools utilized during assembly.
  • Conduct cleaning and inspection of parts, including disassembly of rework units as needed.
  • Adhere to quality and safety protocols, ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
  • Package finished goods for transport.
  • Contribute to workflow optimization for enhanced productivity and safety.
  • Assist with both Industrial and Residential Assembly lines as required.
  • Complete tasks within reasonable timeframes compared to current performance standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Comply with all applicable safety procedures while executing work tasks.
  • Be available for overtime as production demands dictate.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; relevant experience or training is preferred.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and teamwork, with a willingness to assist in achieving company objectives.
  • Ability to perform essential duties efficiently and safely.
  • Familiarity with machinery and operational functions relevant to the role.
  • Competence in the skills required for the assigned trade or craft.
  • Knowledge of current trade practices, materials, and tools applicable to the work.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; capable of writing routine reports.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations in various units of measure.
  • Capacity to apply common sense in executing detailed instructions and addressing standardized problems.
