Job Summary

Wegner CPAs is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Project Engineer to join our team in Columbus, WI. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for managing and implementing all aspects of electrical engineering for manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Specify needs for various components with vendors and customers, evaluate and order necessary items (PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, wiring, sensors, circuit breakers, etc.)
  • Engineering Evaluations: Conduct engineering design evaluations for compliance with engineering principles, standards and customer requirements.
  • Project Coordination: Review project scope to ensure electrical design complies with customer expectations and equipment requirements.
  • Technical Support: Coordinate activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling and resolution of routine design and test issues.
  • Design Changes: Evaluate design changes, specifications and remain familiar with the latest electrical controls technology in the industry.
  • Design Review: Participate in design review meetings covering electrical drawings, electrical specifications, machine specifications, utility requirements, serviceability, and other attributes.
  • Travel and Start-up: Travel domestic and internationally as required to perform start-up of machinery. Travel estimated at 30%.
  • Design Modifications: Make and implement design modifications to facilitate electrical panels builds and machine programming.
  • Engineering Standards: Establish companies engineering/design standards and specifications utilizing engineering principles and calculations.
  • Quality System: Establish quality system procedures and other standards/procedures as appropriate to the design function. Ensure consistent application of these standards.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, industrial technology or equivalent experience.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity in latest computerized electrical design applications and schematic generation (e.g. Promise E, EPlan).
  • Experience: Five years of experience in PLC and HMI programming for custom equipment preferred (e.g.-Rockwell(primary), Siemens).
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to effectively check all drawings and programs for errors or deviations from standard practice prior to submittal to customers or manufacturing.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of VFDs, communication networks, and industrial control components (e.g.-Rockwell, Siemens, Ethernet/IP).
