Position Overview:
The MITRE Corporation is seeking a Lead Engineer for Operational Experimentation Systems to support our mission in addressing complex challenges faced by our nation.

Department Overview:
The Indo-Pacific Regional Operations Department collaborates with U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) and military service components to inform warfighter requirements and develop Concepts of Operation (CONOPS). We provide essential Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems acquisition, engineering, and integration support to the Department of Defense (DOD) and allied forces in the Pacific Theater.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Cultivate and manage relationships with sponsors, MITRE, and stakeholders related to INDOPACOM experimentation.
2. Develop cohesive experimentation campaign plans that illustrate the incremental demonstration and maturation of operational capabilities.
3. Enhance collaboration and coordination on experimentation initiatives between INDOPACOM, service components, and military services.
4. Collaborate with stakeholders to devise a resourcing strategy for the rapid development, acquisition, maintenance, and transition of capabilities in the Indo-Pacific Theater.
5. Identify opportunities to leverage unique service experimentation to advance INDOPACOM priorities.
6. Establish key metrics for experimentation to quantify improvements in operational capabilities.
7. Work alongside government, FFRDC, and MITRE experimentation leads to swiftly integrate new technologies into the theater.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics) or a related discipline, with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree with 6 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with Department of Defense military missions and operations.
- Proven experience in government-controlled DoD environments.
- Expert knowledge of operational and developmental experimentation.
- Strong system-of-systems engineering background across various weapon systems and mission sets.
- Understanding of diverse DoD acquisition methodologies.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.
- This role requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site work.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience; or 8 years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of model-based systems engineering, operational analysis, and modeling & simulation.
- Current awareness of emerging technologies in acquisition programs and the INDOPACOM theater.
- Familiarity with MITRE project management processes and tools.
- Demonstrated strategic planning capabilities and ability to provide actionable plans to government sponsors.
- Interest in leadership roles within projects and departments.
- Active TS/SCI clearance.

Compensation:
Salary range: $138,500 - $173,000 - $207,500 annually.

Work Environment:
Hybrid work model.
