Position Overview

The Head of Youth Behavioral Services is responsible for overseeing a dedicated team that delivers youth-focused, proactive intervention strategies designed to help young individuals manage their emotions, navigate complex traumas, and develop effective coping strategies. This role is pivotal in supporting Behavioral Health Specialists across various programs to implement trauma-informed educational practices, mediate peer conflicts, and manage crisis situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership aimed at enhancing the behavioral health services provided in each program.
  • Demonstrate a proven capacity to establish systems or processes where none currently exist.
  • Design, execute, and refine evidence-based interventions tailored to the distinct needs of youth in our programs.
  • Foster partnerships with community organizations and other behavioral health providers to optimize referral pathways for young individuals.
  • Strengthen collaborations with local and online master's programs to facilitate practicum opportunities for graduate students.
  • Oversee program budgets, licensing, compliance, and the collection of statistical data related to behavioral health services.
  • Formulate policies, procedures, and systems that align with regulatory standards.
  • Work alongside Program Directors to develop and uphold restorative justice-based accountability frameworks within each initiative.
  • Facilitate youth-centered conflict resolution and peer mediation as necessary.
  • Provide clinical supervision, training, and ongoing support to Behavioral Health Specialists.
  • Conduct regular meetings with behavioral health staff to review clinical documentation and assess youth progress.
  • Research and implement evidence-based intake and assessment methodologies for behavioral health services across all programs.
  • Manage the recruitment and onboarding processes for all behavioral health personnel.
  • Engage in collaborative treatment planning with staff to address complex youth-related situations.
  • Participate in local and state-level discussions concerning mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Develop and analyze statistical reports for internal review and external presentations.
  • Educate staff and volunteers on the purpose and application of specific interventions.
  • Provide clinical expertise and training to all personnel.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure regular social-emotional support for staff members.
  • Assist Behavioral Health Interns in fulfilling their practicum requirements successfully.
  • Maintain precise and high-quality documentation within organizational databases.
  • Create performance reports as necessary.
  • Engage in program, department, and agency meetings as well as relevant training sessions.
  • Participate in local and state interagency workgroups as required.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a mental health-related field (e.g., social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatry, education) is required.
  • Licensure and credentialing through the Department of Health in Washington State is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience supervising behavioral health staff is required.
  • At least 3 years of post-graduate clinical experience providing therapeutic interventions to youth is necessary.
  • A valid driver's license and auto insurance are required.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting hourly wage of $43.27
  • Sign-on bonus of $10,000
  • Eligibility for up to $8,000 annually for license maintenance.

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position involves frequent walking, hearing, seeing, speaking, and various physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, and reaching. It may require lifting, carrying, pulling, or moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The role also includes prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
