About the Role

Yakima Neighborhood Health Services is seeking a highly skilled Employment Specialist to join our Behavioral Health team. As an Employment Specialist, you will play a critical role in helping individuals who are homeless or in transitional housing achieve their employment goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage Consumers: Establish trusting, collaborative relationships with consumers to help them achieve competitive employment in integrated job settings.
  • Assess Vocational Functioning: Continuously assess consumers' vocational functioning to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted support plans.
  • Job Development and Job Search: Assist consumers in job development and job search activities, matching them with positions that align with their needs and interests.
  • Provide Follow-Along Services: Offer individualized, time-unlimited support to help consumers sustain employment and address any challenges that may arise.
  • Collaborate with Employers: Work with employers to negotiate job accommodations and provide education and support to ensure a successful employment experience for consumers.
  • Outreach and Engagement: Provide outreach services to consumers who may be disengaging from services, and maintain contact with consumers to sustain engagement.
  • Team Collaboration: Meet regularly with team members to coordinate and integrate vocational services into physical and mental health treatment plans.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of consumer progress and employment outcomes.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of Serious Mental Illnesses: Possess knowledge of serious mental illnesses, including treatment, medication, and the impact on vocational functioning.
  • Job Development and Marketing: Have general knowledge and experience in job development and marketing, including the ability to identify consumers' interests, strengths, skills, and abilities.
  • Employer Relations: Be able to relate positively with employers in the community and have a working knowledge of a broad range of occupations and jobs.
