Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Early Childhood Education Specialist to join our team at College of the Canyons. The successful candidate will possess a current State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Master Teacher Permit or higher, as well as 2 years of work experience with preschool children in an instructional capacity in a child care and development program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with children, families, students, and staff, including articulating the theoretical base of activities and curriculum.
  • Apply State Child Development Division Regulations, Title 22 and Title V, for a State-funded program.
  • Knowledge of NAEYC Accreditation Standards and California Department of Education (CDE) Early Education and Support Division (EESD) Desired Results for Children and Families.
  • Experience with Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) and application of Developmentally Appropriate Practice and Intentional Teaching.
  • Knowledge and application of Early Childhood Theory and specialized coursework in special needs.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Must possess a current State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Master Teacher Permit or higher.
  • Must have 2 years of work experience with preschool children in an instructional capacity in a child care and development program.
  • Completion of Working with Families from Diverse Backgrounds coursework.
  • Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic, cultural, ethnicities, and abilities of children and community college students.
Working Conditions

The teaching assignment may be at the Valencia or Canyon Country campus, or other college teaching locations. Part-time faculty positions are as needed and do not accrue rights to tenure.
